2008 South Central Area Fair DEMOLITION DERBY RULES and REGULATIONS Applies to Demo Derby, Powder Puff and Mid-Size events ===================================================================================== ===================================================================================== DERBY CAR and PULL VEHICLE ONLY ALLOWED IN FAIR GROUNDS!! FIRST and SECOND place winners will compete in the feature event ===================================================================================== 1. Driver may enter more than one car. (No trucks or vans permitted) 2. Driver must use seatbelts, shoulder harness and crash helmet. 3. Cars must remain stock. No reinforcement permitted, except roll bar, which may be located over driver's seat, and a bar across left door which must not extend over 8 inches beyond door opening. (Optional) 4. All glass, including windshield, must be removed. All side chrome must be removed. 5. All doors must be closed and welded or secured with chain, not both, and back door on station wagons are to be chained or welded! 6. Rear seat must be removed. 7. Gas tank must be removed from stock position. Boat tank or fuel cell must be in rear seat area of car with metal cover over tank and firmly secured. A maximum of 6 gallons of fuel will be permitted. FUEL CELL IS RECOMMENDED! 8. Battery may be relocated. If moved to driver's compartment, it must be secured and covered to protect driver from acid. Only one battery permitted. Covering distributor, removing fan, or hand throttle permitted. 9. Hood must have an eight (8) inch hole cut over carburetor in case of fire. Hood and trunk must be where it can be inspected by Judges before event. 10. No studded tires. Must be DOT tires only. 11. Each car must have a large number painted on each front door. In case of duplicate numbers, judges will assign number. 12. MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD TO DRIVE!!!!! 13. Sponsors name may be painted on car, except where doors with numbers. No obscene or off-color printing permitted. 14. All cars must be checked into pit area at Fairgrounds by 5:30PM. There will be a MANDATORY DRIVER'S MEETING ar 6:45 om, and gates open at 4:00. 15. Bumpers must be in stock position, and will be measured for height at strong part of bumper - 24" MAX. HEIGHT, AND ALL CARS MUST HAVE BUMPERS. 16. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO HIT THE DRIVER'S DOOR INTENTIONALLY. (This is for Driver safety). (and the judges will have the last and final call!!) 17. Hoods and trunks may have one individual chain on eash side in a manner that would give strength to the car. Or bolts, but only two (2) unless the hood has no hinges, then you can put 4! NO Lacing!! Not both chains and bolts!! 18. No wire for lacing or tieing of any kind! NO WIRE!! 19. Must have helmet with eye protection! 20. RACING SHOULDER HARNESS RECOMMENDED!!! 21. NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON!!! 22. I have read the above rules and agree to abode to all things, and WILL ABIDE BY ANY DECISIONS MADE BY FAIR BOARD OFFICIALS 23.
